Abbey Harvest Appeal – benefits SolarAid. Thank you supporting this, and for your gifts of flowering pot plants for our congregation. 

    Dirleton Harvest Project – helping Edinburgh Grassmarket Mission. Thank you for your support. Our gifts have been much appreciated in previous years.

Visitors from India – 11 to 22 Oct. A schedule of events planned during the visit is available from the Church Office. If you can help, please contact the Minister or the Church Office.

Scots Nights on Saturday 13th Oct at 7pm in Abbey Church Hall. Haggis
supper & traditional entertainment. Tickets from Church office - minimum  £5 donation.  Proceeds to Twinning Fund.

We’d like Abbey Church to be open during the week. If you can ‘open and close’, please sign the form on the notice board at the back of the church.

Jacob’s Well – a new look at a series of studies about our spiritual journey towards healing, led by Bob Kane on Thursday 4 Oct at 7.30pm

Christmas Shoe Box Appeal – please pick up a leaflet and support this appeal. Leaflets in vestibule (Dirleton) & at back of church (Abbey). Filled boxes to be returned by 4th Nov. Thank you. There is a ‘cover a shoebox’ afternoon on 9th Oct – more info soon. If you have any empty shoeboxes, please hand in to Church Office.

Guild Dedication Service on Tues 2 Oct at 2pm in Abbey Church, followed by tea & cake. On Friday 5 Oct at 6.30pm, St Andrew Blackadder invite us to join them for a Harvest Supper of two courses. Please let Zandra or Eleanor know if you’d like to go. 

REGAL – Thurs 11 Oct at 12 noon in Abbey Church Hall. “Japan – it’s not all raw fish”, with Richard Bell.

·           Abbey Harvest Appeal – if you’ve been collecting coins for SolarAid, please bring along your light bulb boxes next Sunday (30th Sept). Also gifts of flowering pot plants for distribution locally would be very much appreciated.

Dirleton Harvest Project – helping Edinburgh Grassmarket Mission.
Please donate non perishable foodstuffs (in date) and cleaning materials. Boxes will be in the West Porch today and next Sunday. Our gifts have been much appreciated in previous years.

Sunday 16th September



·           There will be no Evening Services at Abbey during September. Our Evening Services re-start on Sunday 7th October at 6.00pm, until December 2012.

·          Visitors from India. If you would like to support the visit of 6 members from our twin church in Kalimpong in October, there will be a collection plate at the door as you leave the church services during September.

·           We’d like Abbey Church to be open during the week. If you can ‘open and close’, please sign the form on the notice board at the back of the church.

·           Dirleton Prayer Service is on Wednesday at 10.00am in the hall, followed
by coffee – all very welcome.

·           Jacob’s Well – a new look at a series of studies about our spiritual journey towards healing – led by Bob Kane at 5 Clifford Road, on Thursdays at 7.30pm. All welcome.

·           Abbey Guild are serving ‘teas’ in the old hall on Saturday 22 September from 2 – 4pm, in aid of Guild Projects. (Craft Fair in the new hall) 
Do come along, and bring a friend!

·           The Prom Praise Orchestra, is returning to the Usher Hall, Edinburgh on Saturday 27 October with a mixture of classical and sacred music (usually of an upbeat nature). The orchestra is based at All Souls' Langham Place, London. Tickets £16. If you would like to go, or for more information, please speak to Robert Burgon before Thursday 20 September.
