Mothering Sunday, 30th March


Abbey Newsletters are available today for distributors. If you do not have one delivered there are extra copies at the back of the church.

Abbey Kirk Session meets on Monday 31 March at 7.30pm with Graham Duffin and the Local Church Review team from Presbytery.

Dirleton Kirk Session meets on Tuesday 1 April at 7.00pm in the Kirk.

There is no House Group next week. The last one is on Tuesday 8 April.

Dirleton Prayer Service is on Wednesday 10.00am in the hall, followed by coffee – all very welcome.

Fidra House Car Boot & Craft Fayre – Saturday 5 April, 10-3. All welcome.

Hadley Court Singers present Hadyns CREATION on Saturday 5 April at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Parish Church Haddington. Tickets available today from Clare Aitken or pay at the door.

Vine Trust Information Evening in Abbey new hall on Wednesday 9 April from 7.30pm. Hear about different aspects of Vine trust’s work, including updates on Jubilee Hope & Amazon Hope medical ships, and have an opportunity to join a North Berwick ‘work party’ to Tanzania in 2015 or 2016.

Open meeting on 'Fracking'

A talk and discussion led by Adrian Shaw,
 the Church of Scotland’s Climate Change Officer

This is an important debate and central to the future of our energy use and responding to climate change.  What does it mean for you and what do you think we should do? A big question - but one that
eco-congregations should consider.

Sunday 9th March

House Group meets on Tuesday 11 March at 7.30pm at 11 Ben Sayers Park
All are very welcome – just come along.

Dirleton Prayer Service is on Wednesday 10.00am in the hall, followed by coffee – all very welcome.

Regal – On Thursday 13 March at 12noon in Abbey old hall Ian Aitken will talk about ‘The SOE and some of their WW2 clandestine activities’.
After the talk you are welcome to sit and share a ‘soup and sandwich’ lunch.

East Lothian Foodbank All donations are welcome and can be handed into the church office. There is a special request for the following items: tinned fruit, long-life milk, long-life fruit juice, sugar and packets of mashed potato.
105 food parcels went out in the month of January.

Articles for inclusion in Abbey April Newsletter should be emailed or handed in by 16 March.
Newsletters will be available for distribution on Sunday 30 March.

Last Sunday money was found in Abbey old hall. Please contact the office.

Eco Congregation Scotland On Monday 17 March at 7.30pm Abbey Church is hosting a meeting of Eco Congregation Scotland on the subject of Fracking. The guest speaker will be Adrian Shaw, Climate Change officer for the Church of Scotland. You are warmly invited to attend the meeting on this very topical subject.
