Harvest Sunday

Harvest Appeal – If you have been filling a jar with coins for Nimbong school please hand it in today, next Sunday or to the office.

Abbey Newsletters are available today for distributors. If you do not have one delivered there are extra copies at the back of the church.

Dirleton Prayer Service is on Wednesday 10.00am in the hall, followed by coffee – all very welcome.

Sunday 5th October - Joint service to celebrate 25 years of the linkage of Dirleton & Abbey, in Abbey at 10.30 am (no 9.30 am service).
Guest preacher: Rev Sandy Horsburgh, Presbytery Moderator.
It will be followed by a finger buffet and refreshments in the church halls.

Abbey evening services restart next Sunday 5 October.

Sunday

Harvest Thanksgiving is next Sunday 28th September. Please return your jars with filled with coins to help with catering equipment and children's meals for the new school in Nimbong (Kalimpong), India.
We would like to be able to give flowering pot plants to housebound members of our congregation at Harvest. If you would like to donate, please bring a plant to church on Harvest Sunday 28 September.

Back to School with God Sunday - Prayer


Sunday Afternoon Teas (hosted by St Baldred’s Church) in Abbey new hall today from 2 – 4.30pm. Enjoy delicious home baking and meet up with friends.

North Berwick & District Churches Association open meeting ‘What kind of Scotland do we want’ on Thursday 28 August at 7.30pm in Abbey Church. Speaker is Elaine Duncan, Director of Scottish Bible Society. All welcome.

Commonwealth Games Sunday

Seaside Rock Holiday Club – beach based Holiday Club for primary school age children today from 10.30 to 11.30am. All children welcome.

Sunday Afternoon Teas TODAY– Please come along and support us and enjoy delicious home baking in the new hall from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Opera East Lothian Summer Sundays – Viva Vivaldi - Gloria and other Baroque favourites. In Dirleton Kirk today at 4.00pm.

North Berwick Day Centre Coffee Morning (in aid of their minibus) is on Saturday 2 August from 10.00am to 12 noon in the Day Centre. Donations of baking , tombola, bric-a-brac, etc welcome and can be handed in from 9.00am.

Traidcraft goods will be available at Abbey next Sunday, 3 August.
Next Traidcraft will be 5 October – stock up for August & September!

'Lights Out'. On Monday 4th August, there will be a half-hour vigil in Abbey, to mark the centenary of the start of World War One. This will start at 9.30pm, and end at 10.00pm.

The new Dirleton Cradle Roll is now framed and in place. Thanks to John & Denise Gray for arranging this.

North Berwick & District Association of Churches invite all to an Open Forum in Gullane Village Hall on Thursday 7 August at 7.30pm. Entitled ‘Democracy & Participation in a Referendum Year’ the Forum will discuss levels of participation in the democratic process along non party political lines and against the backdrop of the Scottish referendum. The discussion will be led and moderated by Patrick Chalmers author of ‘Fraudcast News’, an account of “how bad journalism supports our bogus democracies”. High summer


Seaside Rock Holiday Club – beach based Holiday Club for primary school age children today from 10.30 to 11.30am and on Sundays 13, 20 & 27 July.
